Lady Anne Duya, a female Aeta criminology graduate from Central Luzon College of Science and Technology from Porac, Pampanga, has achieved a remarkable accomplishment as the first member of her tribe to pass the February 2024 Criminologist Licensure Examination.

Duya posted on Facebook, expressing her gratitude to Almighty God and her achievements, from being a degree holder to becoming a registered criminologist.

After completing her studies in July 2023, with the hard work, perseverance, and unwavering dedication that she demonstrated, Duya also received different awards such as Best in Thesis, Service Awardee, and Most Outstanding Criminology Intern.

According to ABS-CBN’s report, Duya vividly recalled when she was being asked by her family how the examination went when she returned home, emotionally expressing how difficult the journey was.

In February, Duya was among the 15,684 individuals out of 32,495 who passed the licensure exam. The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) officially announced the results on March 6.
She emphasized that it was such a big thing for her to become a scholar under the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) of Pampanga and the provincial government.

In response to her remarkable achievements, Duya expressed how grateful she was for the scholarship program given to people like herself who cannot fully support their education, expressing her gratitude for not losing hope in providing them with opportunities to dream and pursue their education.

Furthermore, Duya reminded us to never lose hope by just keeping on dreaming, regardless of gender or ethnicity, emphasizing that being a woman or belonging to the Aeta tribe is not a hindrance to achieving one’s dreams.

Duya is currently in the process of considering which agency she will enter for her profession and continues to take pride in her heritage.
